I want to knit a cool lace shawl!

クールなレースショールが編みたい!

When the hot days continue, I feel like knitting a lace shawl, but every year I worry that it might not suit me.
These worries are mostly unfounded, and it looks lovely once wrapped, but the delicate lace has an elegant image, and I worry that it might look too sweet and cute and not go with my everyday casual outfits.

Thinking that there might be other people out there with the same problem, I went looking for a cool lace shawl this time.

Aether Shawl

This triangular shawl features mesh triangles arranged in a regular pattern, creating a beautiful tile-like pattern. I've been wanting to knit this shawl ever since I saw our staff Akko knit it two years ago. The edges are finished neatly in garter stitch instead of lace, which also looks great. You can knit it with just one skein of amirisu Flow or Undercover Otter Mighty Merino Lace .

Augustus Classic Yak Shawl

A large rectangular shawl with a basket pattern. It has a cool look thanks to the clear pattern made with straight lines and a small proportion of lace. It's large and not very summery, so it would be good to wrap it around yourself as an outer layer in spring or autumn, or to carry it around as a blanket.

The designer is a man named Steve Rousseau , and he has designed many shawls with geometric patterns. Some of them are reminiscent of Sashiko and Kogin embroidery. All of the patterns are simple repeats of patterns, so it seems like it would be "training knitting," but I want to knit it!

Camino Bubbles

If you want something unique, try this shawl using Fingering weight yarn. The impressive bubble pattern is made with a drop stitch, which drops stitches that have already been knitted. You can choose between a version with large bubbles (pictured) and a version with smaller bubbles lined up. It also looks good when used with long-pitch stripe-dyed yarn.
This sample is knitted with rainbow colored yarn, so it looks very flashy, but many people have knitted it in monochrome or in calm two-color stripes, so it gets your imagination flowing with the possibilities of what colors to knit it in.

Maelstorm

A pie shawl with a swirling tide pattern. The edges also have a beautiful lace pattern that resembles ocean waves. When knitted with graded yarn, the color of the knitted fabric changes in concentric circles, and the swirling lace pattern overlaps, which looks interesting. It's in English, but it's a free pattern ✌️ It's a pattern that I would like to knit in a beautiful blue like the sea.

The Ghost Knitter's Shawl

The last item on our list is a triangular shawl lined with skulls! It goes beyond cool and goes all out. But if you look closely, you'll see that the holes for the eyes and mouths are slightly different, and each one has a lovely expression that's endearing. Only the hem has a lace pattern, so it's perfect for when you don't have the energy to make a full lace shawl, but want to knit a little lace for a change of pace.
