Hidahida by Miyuki Watanabe

Hidahida by Miyuki Watanabe
Today we're going to have a quick chat with Miyuki, the designer of the elegant Hidahida pullover from Issue 25. This design is as beautiful as it is warm with its gathered shawl collar.

amirisu: What was your inspiration for this design?

Miyuki: I often use gathers in my designs, but I had never used them on the back of a collar before so I wanted to try it out in this design.

amirisu: What, if any, challenges did you encounter during the design process?
Miyuki: The increases for the collar and shoulders as well as the gathers at the chest were a bit of a challenge.

amirisu: If you were to knit this design in another color, what would it be?
Miyuki: Brick

amirisu: How did you start your knitting journey?
Miyuki: My mother taught me how to knit when I was a child. After a period of not knitting for a while, I came across a book by knit designer michiyo and that inspired me to start knitting again.

amirisu: Do you have a favorite museum or work of art? Please tell us a little about it.
Miyuki: The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum. I like the relaxed atmosphere surrounded by all of the greenery.

Thank you, Miyuki!
