Staff projects: Cantabile Sweater

Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Kyoto. The temperature has risen and the city is bustling with activity. Spring weather is changeable and unstable, but we only hope that we can enjoy the flowers longer this year.

Ayako from our Kyoto store has knitted the Cantabile Sweater !
The colour of the sweater and the way it is coordinated with the vivid pink innerwear are very spring-like and super cute.
The Cantabile Sweater is designed by Miki Teragaki. The short length and voluminous frills are well balanced, making it a special piece.
The main body is knit with amirisu Sprint Handdyed, First Kahlua Milk.
The ruffle part is knit with purple and orange silk mohair held together with Majo Garn Fine Merino, a similar color to Kahlua Milk.
The ruffle part was apparently a "haphazard knitting" project, as she used up one ball of Majo Garn and then replaced it with the leftover Sprint from the body, but still felt that the length was not enough so she bought more Majo Garn, but the finished product doesn't show any sign of such unplanning.

"Sprint is very easy to knit, and my first Kahlua Milk is also my favorite color. I was excited to see the speckle color that would come up next, so I was able to continue knitting. One of the things I enjoyed was imagining the color of the ruffles while watching the speckles that appeared as I knitted the body," said Ayako.
When deciding on the colours for the silk mohair, she didn't knit swatch and instead just twisted the yarn to try out different combinations.
The back is longer than the front. Miki's design has a really cute shape.
"I highly recommend this item as it adds personality to a simple combination of sweater and jeans!"
