About

Inspiration from the Japanese knitting and craft scene.

amirisu launched in August of 2012 as a new knitting lifestyle magazine. We focus on introducing wearable, everyday garments for a younger generation of knitters. First debuting in print in 2014, our magazine is now sold in over 120 stores in 24 countries around the world. (Check here to find a stockist near you!)

In 2014 we moved our headquarters to Kyoto and established up our flagship store. In addition to offering wide selection of imported and domestic knitting and crafting products on our online shops and in our store, we regularly hold knitting and other crafting lessons and organize other events including an annual retreat.

In 2015, we became amirisu, Co. Ltd.

Our Brick-and-Mortar Stores: WALNUT Kyoto & WALNUT Tokyo

amirisu operates two brick-and-mortar locations in Japan. Walnut Kyoto is our a flagship store in Kyoto, and Walnut Tokyo is our location in the Minami Aoyama area in Tokyo. If you've visited us in Tokyo in the past, please note that from June 2021 we have a new location.

We carry various imported brands including Quince & Co., Brooklyn Tweed, Woolfolk, Madelinetosh, Yarn On The House, and Hiyahiya, as well as a range of products from Japanese companies such as Tulip and DARUMA. We also have our own original products and yarns, and carry several brands and products that are available no where else in Japan. We continue to expand our selection of yarn and other products to complement projects introduced in our magazine and other newly released patterns.

We regularly offer knitting classes and occasional workshops. You can take a look at our lesson schedule or follow us on Facebook or Instagram for updates. Please note that most of our lessons are conducted in Japanese.
