Our staff, Akko and Junko both knit Marin, one of Ysolda Teague’s most popular shawl patterns — and they look absolutely delighted!
Marin features a lovely scalloped edge. The body is worked in garter stitch, while the scallops incorporate simple rib and cable motifs for a clean, elegant design. Though the shape is cute, the garter stitch gives it a casual, modern touch that keeps it from being overly sweet — such a beautifully balanced and wearable shawl.
You’ll be amazed by how cleverly the pattern is constructed — the scallops and increases are worked simultaneously as you go.
“Following the instructions step by step, the shape gradually appeared — it was so much fun to watch it come together, and I never got bored,” says Akko.
Junko, on the other hand…
“I thought I didn’t need the stitch markers anymore, so I took them off even though the pattern didn’t say to — and of course, I lost track of my stitch count and had to start all over again! (laughs) Still, it was really enjoyable to knit. Now I understand why people say it’s such a well-designed pattern.”
Marin comes in two sizes, and both knitters made the smaller version. It takes just one skein of amirisu Swing. They didn’t plan it, but since they share a similar taste in clothes, they both happened to choose shades of green! Akko used a shop-exclusive colorway, while Junko chose Yomogi (Mugwort).
Another green-loving knitter!
Many of us at amirisu are big fans of green yarns. The day after we took Akko and Junko’s photos, we discovered that Ryoko was also knitting Marin — in green! Of course, we couldn’t resist taking another picture together.
If you haven’t tried this pattern yet, we highly recommend giving it a go!
