This sweater combines ornate cable motifs with brioche ribbing, like a gorgeous ornament. The beautifully shaped shoulders and relaxed drop-shoulder silhouette add a casual touch. Knit in Woolfolk Far, it is warm, soft, and a joy to both knit and wear.
This sweater is worked from the top down. The back is worked in Brioche stitch from the shoulders to the underarm. Then, stitches are picked up along the shoulders for the front and worked in cable pattern to underarm, increasing at the neckline according
to the charts. The front and the back are joined at underarm and worked in the round with cables on the front, Brioche stitch on the back, and rib on the hem. The sleeve stitches are picked up along the armholes and worked in the round in cable pattern. The cuffs
are finished in ribbing, incorporating part of the cable motif. The neckband is worked in ribbing in the round, then folded inward and sewn in to make it double.
The cable pattern is worked flat / in the round according to the charts. When working the lower body in the round, Brioche stitch rows are added to adjust for the difference in row gauge between the front worked in cable pattern and the back worked in Brioche stitch. Place markers if necessary to separate each pattern repeat. The sleeves may be worked using Magic Loop method if necessary, depending on the cable length of a circular needle.
