The MilkCan pattern is a hair tie with a design that strips away the sweetness.
Unlike traditional hair ties, this modern-shaped hair tie is designed to be enjoyed even by those who don't like a girly style. It can be used not only as a hair accessory, but also layered on the wrist as a stylish accent.
This pattern can be used with any thickness of yarn, but we've prepared a kit using the Mondim yarn used in the sample.
The kit only includes one ball of yarn, so if you want to knit with multiple colors, please purchase your favorite colors from here .
The key detail is the exquisite balance between the straight lines and curves when the elastic is inserted, reminiscent of modernist architecture. Furthermore, while the amount of gathers (elasticity) is kept to a minimum, it avoids becoming flat. The pattern itself is a simple structure, but when the elastic is added during finishing, it transforms into a modern form. Please pay attention to this transformation.

Yarn used
Retrosaria Rosa Pomar Mondim
(100% fine Portuguese wool; 421 yards / 385 m, 100g)
Needle to be used
- 80 cm 32” or longer circular needle in size suitable for preferred yarn (magic loop used)
- Crochet hook in size suitable for preferred yarn (used for provisional cast-on)
Gauge
Check stitch gauge over 5 cm 2” in Stockinette stitch with preferred yarn
For samples knitted with mondim, the gauge is: 13.5 stitches = 5cm in stockinette stitch.
