When we decided to keep paying the rent for the old WALNUT Tokyo space until mid-November, I thought, why not make the most of it and hold some events there? I got carried away and filled the calendar with back-to-back events — I’m already wondering if my voice will survive it all! But more than anything, I’m looking forward to spending fun autumn days with everyone.
Here’s a rundown of the upcoming events that are still open for registration, as well as details about our charity bazaar.
Charity Bazaar
October 24 (Fri) – 25 (Sat) | 13:00–16:30
Our annual charity event supporting Ashinaga Foundation will take place over these two days this year. We’ll be selling slightly damaged books, sample knits, and more!
・Damaged Books Titles include Mouche & Friends, 52 Weeks of Scrap Yarn, Beloved Patterns Magazine Issue 1, Tukubook by Laine, and amirisu publications such as assemblage vol.1 and Sock Knitting Club. Each book will be sold for 1,500 yen. Perfect for those who don’t mind minor wear like bent corners or scuffed covers.
・Sample Knits We’ll offer samples from past DARUMA patterns — beautifully made pieces by skilled sample knitters, most in great condition.
・amirisu Original Yarn (with minor spinning irregularities) We’ll have Trek, Parade, and Wanderlust Linen available.
・Other Yarns We’ll also sell small quantities of discontinued yarns that couldn’t be restocked due to dye lot differences. Great for those looking for just a few skeins — you might find a hidden gem!

Cash not accepted. Payment by credit card, QR code, or IC card only.
Please bring your own eco bag, as we won’t be providing shopping bags.
Knit Café with Photographer Masako Nakagawa
🗓 October 29 (Wed) | 14:00–16:00
Do you know Masako Nakagawa? She’s the talented photographer behind our Travel book series and the Through the Lens photo journal on yomirisu online. Recently, she’s also been active as a writer — her first essay book Mizu no Shita is truly wonderful.
We’ve become good friends over the years, and since we’re around the same age, we always have lots to talk about. Honestly, Meri and I are thrilled just to have an excuse to chat with her “for work.” Since Masako lives in Okayama, it’s a rare chance to meet her in person — please come say hello! Meri and I will also be there.
Meri & Tokuko Knit Café
🗓 October 30 (Thu) | 19:00–20:30
We’re bringing back our in-person knit café — just the two of us! We scheduled it in the evening, hoping it’ll be easier for people to join after work.
These days, we don’t often get to talk publicly as a duo, but this cozy, closed setting will be the perfect chance to have an open conversation. If you’ve ever wanted to ask us something or just want to meet fellow knitters in Tokyo, please join us!
Knit “NAGISA” Workshop
🗓 October 31 (Fri) | 16:00–18:00
It’s been a while since we held a workshop like this! Nagisa is a zip-up jacket I designed simply because I wanted to wear it myself. Upon revisiting the pattern, I realized it’s packed with fun techniques — intarsia, pockets, short-row collar shaping, and zipper attachment.
In this session, I’ll explain the design process and we’ll practice the short-row collar together. If you’re interested in how designers create and refine their patterns, this will be a great chance to peek into that process!
MKAL Meetup & Help Session
🗓 November 1 (Sat) | 11:00–13:00
Guess what — Aiko is coming to Tokyo! So, we’re hosting an MKAL meetup. Whether you have questions about the pattern or just want to show off your shawl, come join us! You’re also welcome to bring Stephen’s MKAL projects.
We’ll have limited sets of Tokuko’s past MKAL color kits and woven label tag sets for sale, too. Let’s enjoy the MKAL season together!
