Myosotis Top by Marie Régnier

Myosotis Top by Marie Régnier

1. What challenges did you encounter during the design process?

The hardest part was finding the perfect overlap for the wrap front.
Since Myosotis has no tie closure, it had to fit just right — not too open, not too tight — especially with silk mohair, a delicate and slightly sheer yarn that leaves little room for error.

2. If you were to knit this design in another color, what would it be?

Black. There’s something magical about how black silk mohair plays with light, revealing and hiding at once.
It’s timeless, versatile, and perfect for both everyday wear and special occasions.

3. How did you start your knitting journey?

I learned to knit by chance.
No one in my family was a knitter, but when I was ten, my teacher taught me to knit for a school play in which I played a grandmother.
Thirty years later, I still haven’t put down my needles.

4. What made you decide to become a designer?

My journey into knitwear design began almost by chance.
I’ve always loved fashion and textiles, and after studying pattern making, I started sewing for myself and my loved ones.

When my children were born, I began creating my own knitting pattern for them. Having enough time to myself, I took a leap of faith and submitted a design for a magazine.
My design was accepted, and that’s how everything started — born from passion, motherhood, and a bit of serendipity.

5. Among the patterns you’ve designed so far, which one is your favorite?

I have a soft spot for my silk mohair designs — Myosotis, Plumette, and La Blouse.

But Myosotis is my favorite: it combines everything I love — cables, a romantic bohemian touch, and the delicate strength of silk mohair.
