Happy news! We have decided to handle a new brand at amirisu's wool shop. In addition to Brooklyn Tweed, Quince & Co., and Woolfolk, which have been flagship stores so far, Yarn On The House has become a flagship store in Japan.
I saw it in America last year and was attracted by its atmosphere and the softness of the yarn. Although it is soft, it has a texture that seems to be easy to use as a wear. The brand has just started, but I wanted to grow it together over a long period of time, so I put forward the name of the flagship store. This is a brand that has rarely been wholesaled to yarn stores, so there are few stores in the United States that carry it. It's really a zero start.
Yarn On The House (YOTH), which started like amirisu two years ago, was born out of Veronica's passion. The company is based near Seattle, Washington, USA. After starting to hand-dye yarn, she decided to quit her job as an accountant and concentrate on yarn. He says he asked his brother if he would like to start a company together.
My brother Danny, who was just graduating from business school, decided to join without hesitation, and the family business started. Now Veronica's father makes fixtures for exhibitions, and her daughter works as a pattern model, and the whole family supports her.
The concept of such a brand is also "family". The yarn names are Big Sister (for Veronica) and Little Brother (for Danny). These two are a blend of merino + cashmere + nylon called MCN. The softness of cashmere and the durability of merino, while maintaining its luster. Great thread. And recently joined Father and Mother. These two are solid wool threads and are especially recommended for men's items.
The characteristic of YOTH is its color. Each palette, created through experimentation in Veronica's home kitchen, is inspired by the colors of nature. Reflecting that, the names of the colors are the colors of plants and food. Shiitake, Sea Salt, Cacao, etc. It's a combination that makes you want to mix colors as if you were cooking. Any name sounds delicious!
And a big part of why we love YOTH yarns is that they are factory dyed. While sticking to the texture that looks like hand dyeing, there is very little lot difference because it is dyed at the factory. It is very safe to knit clothes and large works.
In addition, chemical dyes are substances with a high environmental impact. Dyeing in a small studio is nice, but having a proper dyeing factory and sewage treatment is important for those of us who handle a lot of yarn.
Well, I'm curious about the thread lineup. The first three types of amirisu are Big Sister, Little Brother, and Father.
Big Sister is MCN (Merino Wool 80%, Cashmere 10%, Nylon 10%) DK weight. Plenty of 231 yards (211m) at 100g. An S-size sweater can be knitted in 3-4 skeins.
Little Brother is still an MCN with plenty of 435 yards (398m). 1-2 skeins for shawls, 2-3 skeins for wear. It looks like it's going to be a light and nice cardigan.
Father is 100% Rambouillet American wool. It is a yarn that is very easy to knit with a refreshing feel and a firm texture. Thickness is Aran (slightly thicker than Worsted), 220 yards (201m). Small items such as hats are one bag, and sweaters are four to five bags.
