Today we would like to introduce you to Mizuho Komiya, the designer of Mimosa, whose bright yellow color and small flower pattern make an impression. He is also a friend of amirisu, who takes lessons at the Walnut Kyoto store.
amirisu: Where did you get the inspiration for this design?
Mizuho: I've always loved continuous motifs, and when I was looking at Nancy Merchant's collection of beautiful brioche knitting patterns, I wondered if I could make something like a series of small flowers, so I knitted several swatches. I thought.
amirisu: If you were to knit another one , what color would it be?
Mizuho: I wanted to knit in monotone colors such as dark gray and off-white.
I think it would be nice if the background color and the motif had a difference in lightness so that the flower pattern could stand out more and be seen clearly.
amirisu: What inspired you to start knitting?
Mizuho: I've loved making things since I was a child, and before I knew it I was knitting, but I really got into it when I was 30 when I had a child and wanted to knit something for him . That's what I thought.
amirisu: Please let me know if you have any recommended shops or places near your home ( I dream of the days when I can travel freely ) .
Mizuho: Kyoto, where I live, has many wonderful shrines and temples, but my favorite is Kamigamo Shrine. Located in the Kita Ward of Kyoto City, a small stream flows through the precincts, and the harmony between the beautiful building and nature calms the mind. Handicraft markets are sometimes held within the temple precincts, and it's fun to walk around and see them.
