Staff Projects: Pool & Conquer
Pool & Conquer, which we previously introduced on Meri's Fantasy Knitting Blog , is a pattern that makes beautiful use of multi-layer dyed yarn, as the color you see on the skein ends up being almost the same as the color you knit.
After reading the article, two of our staff members were inspired to knit. Using Rohrspatz & Wollmeise Pure 100% Merino Superwash , Aiko and Nakacho-san finished the knit before Meri!
First, knit a triangle in garter stitch, then move on to knitting with the stockinette stitch in the round.
The most important thing is to carefully observe the skein before you start knitting.
After unravelling the skein, try spreading it out and looking at it before winding it into a ball. Check that you don't forget the order of the colors and the approximate proportion of each color. If you want to understand why this is important, please buy the pattern and try knitting it.
For example, Aiko's yarn was dyed in the order pink, black, blue and black. That is reflected in the knitted fabric. Due to slight misalignment or differences in the dyeing, the pattern can change drastically halfway through, or when you think it's going straight, it can suddenly make a U-turn. It's interesting and exciting to knit.
If you knit it in Fingering weight, Pure 100% Merino Superwash, you can make a large cowl size with one skein (one skein of this yarn is 150g!). If you knit it with 300g Lacegarn , you will end up with a long stole size similar to this sample photo.
The yarn from Rohrspatz & Wollmeise, a long-established German company, is characterized by its cool, refreshing, and pleasant texture. It seems to be very easy to knit with. It is a yarn with an atmosphere that is not often found in other manufacturers. There is still some in stock, so if you are interested, please take this opportunity.
