Staff Projects: I knitted the popular Sophie Hood
The Sophie Hood is a popular Petiteknit pattern. The pattern itself was released in 2024, but it's still a hooded scarf loved by knitters around the world, making it into the Top 20 on Ravelry.
Then, in December of last year, our staff member Tomie completed the Sophie Hood...!!
The thread is I used about two balls of De Rerum Natura Gilliatt (color: Poivre Blanc). (The needle used is Hiyahiya US8)
The number of stitches was correct, but the rows didn't come out, and when she knitted it up to the top of the fold in size S, it was about 20cm short. In the end, she re-knitted it in size M.So it ended up being about halfway between the S and M sizes.
"It was a simple pattern, but if you get the timing of increasing or decreasing the stitches wrong the symmetry will be off, so I found it to be surprisingly tricky."
At the very last moment, the lengths didn't quite fit, and one side was about 3cm longer, but it was so cute that I didn't mind at all!!
Gilliatt has a fairly elastic knit fabric, so if you want to make cute bows or other ties,we recommend knitting with soft yarn!
