In the world of knitting, there are patterns that look great on everyone who knits them, and patterns that look wonderful on the designer, but where no one on the project page seems to pull them off. It's sad, but it's true. I've also had the experience of knitting something that just wouldn't look cool no matter what I did.
This sweater currently has over 170 projects on Ravelry, but I can't tell what it looks like from the photos, which makes me very curious. I want to knit it and see for myself.
I'm sure fellow knitting geeks already know this, but the most important things when knitting a sweater are the choice of yarn and the fit. And even if a sweater design is lovely, there's also the question of whether it will suit your face and body shape.
For this sweater, I think the choice of yarn is probably the most important thing first of all. If the yarn is stiff enough to make the collar stand up but too firm to drape, it will be heavy and won't get that crinkled look. And it needs to be loose enough to swim in. There are only two sizes available, and the width is around 170 cm! It says you need at least 15 cm of ease, but if you read carefully, it's 87 cm of ease compared to the model! I've never seen anything like it!
Among the yarns we carry at amirisu, maybe Rosa Pomar's Matiz and a two-ply silk mohair? I probably wouldn't recommend French or Spanish merino. I'm so excited to knit it and see how it turns out.
