Through the Lens - 31

Through the Lens - 31

There are many ways to turn an ordinary day into a special one depending on the person. Today, I would like to recommend again one of the most popular and least expensive ways. That being "a long walk."

I wake up in the morning. When I pick up my smartphone in bed, a vortex of information comes rushing in. SNS is full of Japanese and international news. The posts are all assertive and appear one after another at my fingertips. The clothes I should wear this spring, the tools I need to work efficiently. I wonder if I should incorporate this advice, too. I somehow get away from SNS and tap the email app, and a number of work-related messages are waiting in my mailbox. My mind is already working at full speed. But come to think of it, I haven't even washed my face yet.

I work at home, and I usually start work gradually without thinking about it. But I want to make today special. I want to start fresh.

So that day, I make a different choice. I'll take a long walk. Yes, a walk. I decided to just walk wherever my feet take me, without deciding on a destination. I have a mountain of tasks to do, and I want to get started right away, but I hold back.

I wonder if I should leave my smartphone behind. But I decide to take it with me only to look at the map and the clock. I decide to take my earphones with me. And I start walking.

The fluffy clouds are cute. The dry wind gently caresses my skin. The low rumble of a car with a modified muffler and the sound of a siren in the distance mix together and are sucked into the sky. Things I've overlooked lately jump into my eyes one after another. I meet the eyes of a woman with a dog that looks like a chihuahua but is strangely large. “Good morning! So cute!”

As I keep moving my feet forward, I realize that the big wave of my thoughts has calmed down. Many of the things that occupied my mind right after waking up have flown far away. There was no need to use the earphones since I wanted to properly listen to the sounds around me.

A white camellia is smiling on the other side of the fence of someone's house. Camellia is written with the Chinese character for tree next to the character for spring. I haven't had time to think about that lately.
