Sometimes, things we randomly choose and buy on trips end up becoming our favorites afterwards. I expect that many people will be able to relate to this, but am I on to something?
In my case, it was a pair of shorts I bought in Hawaii. I had to go to the beach in Honolulu to hang out in my spare time from work, and I suddenly needed them. I ran into the shop in front of me and bought a pair that I thought was okay.
Six years have passed since then.
When it’s warm outside, the shorts are my go-to for loungewear. They are so short that I only wear them outside when I go to the beach. I have other ones like them, but they don't feel as good as the ones I bought in Hawaii, the length is somehow different, or the waist is either too tight or too loose. The ones from Hawaii fit like a glove. That doesn't mean they’re organic cotton or something very high quality. They’re not bad but not very good either. Even so, I adore them.
Do you have something like them?
I've worn them so much that I've lost the brand tag. There are no clues about the shop at all. I have no choice but to wear something else when they’re in the wash, but I fidget until the shorts are dry. Once they’re dry, I put them right back.
I want another pair so much. I only have this one pair.
I think I'll keep wearing them even when I become a grandmother. You could say they’re a piece of my destiny. This is how fate presents us with miraculous encounters. One day out of the blue, when we’re not even looking for it.
