What, if any, challenges did you encounter during the design process?

One of both my favorite and most challenging parts of any design process is tiptoeing the line between interesting design and approachable pattern. What is the key to the wording or the marker placement that means there’s a logic and a repeat to the whole shawl? Acuminate was a definite challenge with the shaping decreases built into the two lace patterns, but it was SO satisfying when I figured out how to word it to make it a doable knit.

If you were to knit this design in another color, what would it be?
Another green, perhaps a light minty one! I can never get enough of green.

What is your New Year’s resolution?
New Year’s resolutions tend to be a recipe for disaster for me, ha! I try instead to go into the year with new intentions, amorphous as they may be. This year I want to spend as much time outside as possible, take some artistic risks with my knitting by applying for a couple different artists’ residencies, and continue trying to read more books and less social media!

What are your favourite gardens or parks?
I am lucky to live in Maine where we have the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. It’s a huge rambling expanse of all different species—from native plants, to a whole garden of just rhododendrons, to a sensory garden full of herbs and plants like Lamb’s Ear to touch and smell. It’s also home to so much amazing sculpture and art dotted throughout it, and it’s right on a tidal river to the Atlantic Ocean. I go any chance I get!
