Fantasy Knitting 4: I want to knit Madara Shawl
Inese Sang is a knitwear designer from Latvia who currently lives in Canada, and designs many shawls that are endlessly delicate and beautiful, yet simple and modern.
I always saw Inese's work on Instagram, and I contacted her saying I really wanted to work with her, and this Madara shawl was the first thing that came to fruition. So I have a special attachment to it. The yellow bobbles, like pollen floating in the air or carnival lights, are so cute. I was shocked when I found out they were crocheted. But it's so cute, so it's fine.
All of Inese's shawls are so lovely and there are so many I'd like to knit, but if I had to choose just one, it would probably be this one. The pale combination in the sample is lovely, but it reminds me of the blue and white tableware from Royal Copenhagen, so if I chose the pretty blue it would probably feel a bit summery.
I think I'll go with Biches & Buches Le Petite Lambswool in Medium Blue Black and White.
