A new take on our popular balaclava, Mikey!
The original version is knitted using only Swing, but when we tried knitting with mohair using the same pattern, it was even warmer and turned out very cute.
The finished product is slightly larger than the original version knitted only with Swing.
Compared to the original version, which is just the right size for a snug fit, this version has more room around the head. Don't worry, even if the wind blows and it's cold, you can pull your hood in close using the drawstring.
It's lightweight and packs up flat, so if you put it in your bag, it'll be useful for quick protection from the cold. This will come in particularly handy when riding a bicycle. Knit it in bright colors and use it as a winter accessory.
Knit from the bottom. Start by knitting in the round, then knit back and forth in the middle. The area around the head is shaped with short rows. The last step is knitting and installing the I-cord.
*This sample uses the same pattern, but because of the addition of mohair the result is a little larger. This sample used a US5 needle.
