Koto socks will bring a smile to anyone who has visited Kyoto.

The crossed patterns, created with knit and purl stitches, evoke the grid-like streets of Kyoto, while duplicate stitches resembling "bubu arare" (tiny rice crackers) are scattered on the toes and the sole of the heels. These subtle "bubu arare" are a hidden labor of love, known only to the wearer. They also serve as pre-darning, reinforcing the areas beforehand. Knitted with amirisu Trek, the patterns stand out beautifully. The fabric feels crisp and has excellent elasticity, fitting snugly around the feet.

You start knitting from the toe. Work the patterned stitches from the instep to the leg on the front of the sock according to the chart. For the heel, knit a gusset, create the sole with short rows, and then knit the heel flap. Continue the rib pattern on the back of the leg from the heel flap, and work the cuff in twisted rib. Optionally, add duplicate stitches to the toes and the sole of the heels.
