When two designers in Sweden, Lotta H. Löthgren and Erika Åberg, started writing letters to each other, they didn’t know what an amazing journey it would turn out to be. All of the talking, writing, meeting, knitting and sharing photos, sketches, text messages, watercolors and thoughts, turned into this book, The Island and the Forest: A Knitted Correspondence. Lotta and Erika have designed 12 timeless and practical knitting patterns, ranging from small accessories to garments, such as vests and sweaters. The patterns, and the letters, are inspired by the four elements — earth, water, fire and air — and the natural world surrounding them.
