Three by Megumi Sawada

Three by Megumi Sawada

What, if any, challenges did you encounter during the design process?
The motif is based on the kanji character “3 (三),” and I struggled with fitting the pattern in naturally while increasing along the raglan lines. I also put effort into making sure the neckline opened at just the right angle.

If you were to knit this design in another color, what would it be?
I love blue tones, so I would like to try a high-contrast combination using De Rerum Natura Ulysse in navy and light blue (Delphinium × Ciel).

What made you decide to become a designer?

After knitting many English-language patterns, I suddenly came up with a design I wanted to wear myself. That inspired me to try turning it into a real piece. When I wrote the pattern and released it, many people knitted it, and I remember feeling very happy about that.

Among the patterns you have designed so far, which one do you like the most?
I’m fond of Corten, the pattern featured in Northern Lights, a collaboration book between Brooklyn Tweed and amirisu.
