Today we’re interviewing Ronja, the designer of Taimi, cute socks knitted in traditional Finnish colors with a colorwork motif of small seedlings. She lives in northern Finland. I would love to visit there someday!
amirisu: What was your inspiration for this design? Ronja:I wanted to add a little pictures and elements from the beautiful Finnish nature.
amirisu: What, if any, challenges did you encounter during the design process? Ronja:I remember this design came quite easily and I really enjoyed the combination of this yarn and the colorwork!
amirisu: If you were to knit this design in another color, what would it be? Ronja:I would knit it with earthy light tones.
amirisu: How do you like to spend time in the summer? What do you like to knit or make in warmer months? Ronja:I love to be in our cabin, close to nature and water - it's my happy place! I love to knit quite the same things as in the winter time cause we have chilly days in the summer too. But I do have a beautiful brown cotton yarn waiting for me to knit a summer tee of it!
amirisu: Tell us a little about one or two of your favorite spots to recommend to someone thinking to visit Finland. Ronja:Such a tricky question! I would definitely recommend spending time in a Finnish cabin next to the lake. Listen to the silence and experience all the little wonders in nature. And of course have a sauna and a swim in the lake!
