Lori's Notebook - Wonderments

Wonderments

These are my favorite buttons I’ve collected from travels. I used a strong thin twine to attach each one to a piece of linen fabric, grouping like ones together. I tied a knot that is easy to undo when (if) I decide to use them in a project.

They are like little works of art. I like this way of displaying and being able to see and admire the work that went into them. And also to remember lovely times in far away places...

I have such a love for small details and small things in general. Buttons are so perfect in that way and that they are also functional makes them even better. I think they are a perfect souvenir. Because I mostly find them while traveling, I love finding beautiful buttons of natural materials made locally... like some of these here...there are antler from Alaska, reindeer from Norway, Makalani palm nut from Namibia...every button truly has a story to tell.
