Fantasy Knitting 7: I want to knit Framed

妄想編み物7: Framedが編みたい

For knitters living in the US, especially on the East Coast, the Rhinebeck ( New York Sheep & Wool Festival ) is a big event that takes place every year in mid-October (the weekend I'm writing this). It's a huge wool event held in a place called Rhinebeck in upstate New York, with so many stalls that it's impossible to see them all in one day, and it's a sheep farming festival that also includes a sheep competition. There are shops selling sheepskin as is, alpaca socks, and felt and rug hooking-related shops, but most are shops related to hand knitting and hand spinning. There are many products that can only be found here, such as sheep farmers selling yarn they made themselves.

This event brings together major American craft publishers, yarn shop owners, and knitwear designers, making it a mecca where you can meet almost anyone you like.

At Rhinebeck, everyone knits and wears the knitwear that was popular that year, so you'll meet a lot of people wearing the same sweater and take photos with a group of people. Someone even designed this year's Rhinebeck sweater. Popular designer Andrea Mowly is one of them. She designs sweaters and cardigans for Rhinebeck every year.

Framed is a Andrea's Rhinebeck sweater for 2024. I love patchwork patterns and hand-knitted versions of them. When I saw this, I immediately wanted to knit it! So I went looking for yarn.

The specified yarn weight is DK~Worsted, and one of the colors in the colorwork is Dream State from Spincycle. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get Dream State in stock recently, and I have no stock of amirisu. Ugh, what should I do?

Here are some alternative ideas I came up with.

Yarn A (neckline, hem, armhole): Solid
Yarn B (body background): Solid (contrasting color with yarn A)
Yarn C (body colorwork): Dream State

Yarns A and B are solid, and any yarn around Worsted would be fine. For amirisu yarns, I think Stroll or the new yarn, Waltz would be good. (Waltz will be available soon. Stay tuned!) Many people are knitting with BT's Shelter , De Rerum Natura's Gilliatt , and Kelborne Woolens' German Town .

The problem is yarn C. I don't have Dream State, so I've decided to save my own hand-spun DK thread as a last resort. I have two skeins of a good color, so I thought I could use that.

Or, there are quite a few people who knit with solid yarn C, which is also cute. For example, A is black, B is ivory, C is dark yellow, etc. Yeah, it looks good.

Another idea is to combine Spincycle'sDyed In The Wool and Moondrake's Fuwa Fuwa . The body is fluffy and the knitted result is quite cute. In addition to Fuwa Fuwa, LBA's Kumo can also be used. Both are in stock now, so why not try them?

Framed is short in length, so it looks easy to wear even for someone short like me. I want to knit it soon.
